Post Soft Foods Anyone?

My 15yo always-ravenous son just got braces. He has an overbite that they're trying to correct, and so in addition to the regular metal mouth they've put in these little bite-breakers. This all happened yesterday. I ran to the grocery store and got lots of eggs, bananas + yogurt + protein powder (for smoothies), mac-n-cheese, and a can of healthy-ish potato soup. He's already eaten most of THAT, and I'm beginning to feel a bit, ah, overwhelmed. There was a lot of info to download at the orthodontist's office yesterday, but I think he's going to be in this non-chewiing state for...TWO YEARS!?!

I'm starting to mourn, for him and for myself, all of the things that he won't be able to eat. Steaks. Bagels. Our favorite chicken curry.

And I'm worried that at a certain point, the very mention of the word "smoothie" will make him gag.

Any Moms out there have some soft-food solutions to keep the spice of variety going here?

THANKS!
