Obesity a Form of Child Abuse?

Yes it is, according to MeMe Roth, an outspoken media guest, founder of the non-profit “National Action Against Obesity,” journalist, and mom. MeMe is on a quest to wake up parents around the country and shock them into an awareness of how they are abusing their overweight kids with food.  Quarrel with MeMe’s brash tactics if you like, but there is no doubt that she is driven by a sincere and personal passion, having watched her own mother and grandmother suffer from morbid obesity when she was growing up.

Recently admitting at the MDPA Communicating Childhood Obesity Prevention Conference (where she received an award for her activism) that she feels like a “failure” every time she sees another obese child, MeMe remains frustrated and angry about the sluggish pace of change when it comes to our kids’ health.

Where does MeMe see shifting dangers and opportunities today?  How can we best reach parents and kids who need to make a change?  Enjoy the podcast from our April 12 fitsmi Radio Show!
